Wow! So, we got wind of this a few weeks back, and now the Steamforged Games (SFG) team have officially announced that Rivet Wars Reloaded is coming to Kickstarter on 6th September 2022. We are so excited!
They announced that the Kickstarter version will come with an exclusive new faction called the Nemoans, but some of you maybe wondering "What is Rivet Wars?".
Rivet Wars is a Dieselpunk-inspired, tactical miniatures game in which each player takes on the role of the commander of a Rivet army, representing one of the opposing factions. Set in the world of Rivet, the game features unique technology such as diesel powered mechs, unicycled vehicles and armour-plated cavalry. What more is there to love...? Apart from the fact that SFG have created what looks to be some pretty awesome minis. I can't determine the scale from the press images we were sent, but I can't imagine they will be stingy. We have all seen the size of some of the Horizon Zero Dawn minis! So, with that in mind, I think we should be safe.
In Rivet Wars, strategic decision making is key to success. Whilst giving the players the choice of new options each turn meant that players could adjust their play and tactics by reacting to what is unfolding during the game, the redesign of the classic game by video game legend Ted Terranova was originally a bit of a flop and original publishers CoolMiniOrNot (now known as CMON) didn't do that much to help it along. However, I am sure that SFG's magic along with some game engine tweaks will improve the game!
